COMMUNITY DESIGN

Climate Activism

The Michigan Climate Summit, an event by the Michigan Climate Action Network, aims to “amplify, connect, and support the people, organizations, and communities demanding urgent, bold, and equitable solutions for a just transition to a resilient future.” The annual summit was attended by policymakers, educators, activists, artists, and students for a day of storytelling, information sessions, and interactive art. I designed an interactive workshop where participants wrote their climate action commitments on small posters printed on the Risograph printer using 100% recycled paper and soy ink. Summit attendees could take a poster home; another was displayed at the conference. While large-scale policy change is required for significant climate protection, individual actions matter too. Hung en masse, the posters make a collective statement on climate actions.
